When it comes to wine blends vs varietals, there are many disagreements as to which is best. Some wine lovers find wine blends more exciting while others prefer the purity of varietal wines. I argue that wine reflects a country’s history and multiculturalism just as much as its language and architectural influences. I offer as an example a unique structure in the heart of Nicosia, Cyprus, that is known as both “Arablar mosque” and the “Church of Missirikos”. And of all red wine blends, one that I feel expresses the multicultural history of Cyprus in a similar way to this building, is the red blend of local and international grapes Maratheftiko, Syrah and Mourvérde, by Ezousa Winery.
